Having problems keeping those New Year's resolutions? Involve your pet
PetSmart - Michelle Thompson, PetSmart Charities®
The New Year is underway and if your resolutions included ways to be more healthy, active and stress-free, one great way to help you stay motivated throughout the year is to get your pet involved in your plans. Including your pet can make the changes more fun and motivate you to work harder to meet your goals. Plus, overweight pets may benefit from increased exercise and a healthier diet, too.
If you’re having trouble keeping your vow to be more active, grab your pet’s leash and go for a spin around the block. Not only will you look forward to spending time with your pet, but your pet will enjoy spending time with you, too! If a better diet is your goal, try limiting snacks—for both you and your pet. A healthier diet can make both of you feel better and can help you lose weight. Managing stress can also be easier with a pet involved. Studies show that having a pet in your life can reduce depression, anxiety, blood pressure and triglycerides.
Whatever your resolution and however you plan to change your life for the better, making your pet your partner can help you succeed. By writing down your monthly goals and keeping a log of your progress, you can make sure you stay on track all year long.
