Coming up: PetSmart Charities’ Four-Millionth Adoption and Holiday National Adoption Event!

PetSmart Charities® is getting very close to a new pinnacle in our adoption program: lifelong, loving homes for 4 million pets! Since it’s only been two years since we reached the 3-million mark, this is a significant accomplishment in our efforts to save homeless pets. We’re looking forward to the 4-millionth adoption during this holiday season, so watch to see who gets the title!

We’re also hosting our Holiday National Adoption Event this November 13-15 in all 1,145 PetSmart stores in North America. Our goal is to find new homes for 15,800 dogs, cats and small animals during this event, so please spread the word. We are expecting more than 2,000 animal-welfare agencies throughout the United States and Canada to participate and showcase their available pets.

This special holiday event is sponsored by Purina® Pro Plan®, Tidy Cats® and PetSmart®. Not only will prospective pet parents be able to adopt a new family member, but they will also receive free samples from Purina Pro Plan and Tidy Cats.

In the U.S. alone, an estimated 6 to 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters each year, but 3 to 4 million never find homes. During the last 14 years, the PetSmart Charities Adoption Centers have found homes for more than 3.9 million pets (and we’re reaching that 4-million mark soon!) For every minute that the Adoption Centers are open, one pet’s life is saved.

If you are interested in adopting a pet during the Holiday National Adoption Event, visit the PetSmart Charities’ Adoption Center inside any PetSmart® store in the U.S. and Canada from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14; and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 15. Adoptions are handled by participating animal-welfare groups. Call a PetSmart store near you to find out a specific agency’s set-up time during the three-day event.

Pets do so much to add happiness into our lives, and there’s no better time to bring home a new family member than during the holidays.
