Dogs, especially puppies, need to gnaw. It helps them explore their world and relieves teething discomfort. That’s where toys come in, unless of course, you want your dog eating your underwear and gobbling your designer handbag.
Choose toys that do not have small, easily removable parts, and throw them away aw soon as they start to fall apart. Toys (especially balls) that are too small can be swallowed easily. Nylabones, latex squeaky toys, rubber bones and balls, and faux lamb’s wool plush toys are all excellent choices. However, not all puppies are equal, and not all should have the same toys. Destructive chewers should be given only durable hard rubber or nylon toys. Aggressive but not destructive chewers are safe with canvas, fleece, or plush toys. Don’t buy too many in the beginning, though, as your dog may become overwhelmed or bored-rotate them and keep enough around to prevents your pup from chewing on the forbidden furniture.
You may want to avoid stick-type rawhide chews, as they can become stuck in your dog’s throat. In addition, refrain from giving your Beagle toys that require batteries, because he could swallow them.
