I read somewhere that you should brush your guinea pig's fur once in a while. I haven't, but honestly my little Butterscotch sheds so dang much I decided to brush him last night. He loved it! I held him while he munched on a carrot and brushed his back, the little swirl on his head (he has a rosette right on top, like a funky hairdo) and his little belly and he purred and cooed at me and practically melted in my lap. I found an article at Exotic Pets on About.com that talks about the importance of grooming your guinea pig and how to do it.
PetSmart sells a brush for small pets. Honestly I used a doll brush my daughter gave up for Butterscotch, but I like the look of this one and may get it for my little dude.
The other item I got for Butterscotch because a colleague of mine. She has two female guinea pigs and often will take them around the office to visit. One day she came by with Lulu all curled up in a little bed, cooing away. Lulu spent the afternoon in that thing, just sitting on my colleague's desk! Butterscotch likes his equally well, and curls up into a small ball in the fluff. The little bed I got him is called the Super Pet Super Sleeper, and comes in a variety of sizes.
Enjoy!
