I got to thinking today about my Molly and Mr. Rosso. They've been somewhat naughty lately (especially Rosso - check out my blog about his antics lately), which has made me feel like leaving outside more. However, leaving them outside more kinda defeats the point of having my dogs. First, it makes them unhappy. They're my family members, and I love them. So... a gift to them, and perhaps to myself is to continue their obedience training. Rosso went through many classess, and I remember him "in the field" at class: he loved it so. Molly I trained myself, but honestly even knowing how important socializing your dog is, I didn't do the best job of it.
We have some articles on here to help you find training that's right for you. It's specific to PetSmart training, but also gives you a feel for the different levels of classes and the kind of topics covered in each.
I've considered before signing Rosso up for the Click-a-trick training, because he seems to love doing things like that. Molly could benefit from just basic obedience to help her feel more comfortable in new situations.
When your dogs are well-behaved, you're more likely to let them stay in when you have guests, and more likely to take them places, etc. It's just one step in helping your pet live a happy, healthy life. What a great present is that!
