My almost 5 month old chi pup won't eat anything. We have tried every dry and wet dog food and then tried cooking from doggie gourmet recipes and she refuses it all. Now I am leaving science diet dry out with her water but we are lucky to see her eat 4 little pieces a day if that. Im at my end here and I am so worried about her nutritional needs. We bought a vitamin to give her daily but this maddness gotta stop. Any ideas out there. I thought when she saw the new kitty eating she would get the idea but no luck so far.

My puppy stopped eating when she got worms, the vet gave her some meds and she was good as gold in a few days. have you checked her poo for worms?? Its not good thats shes not eating at all..try a baby bottle if you have too and maybe some pedialyte or something. Do anything to get some food into her.

ruralex is right about the Nutri-Cal:

When my dog was a puppy, I had a terrible time getting him to eat. So, every couple hours I would offer him about a 1/4 inch of the Nutri-Cal gel to prevent his blood sugar from getting too low. He gobbled it up and just loved it. He would perk right up within a couple minutes as well.

Sometimes it would even stimulate his appetite enough to get him to eat some of his real food. I probably went through 10 different types of food until I found Royal Canin Mini Puppy 33 formula. He really liked it because the kibble was small enough for his tiny mouth. I had a hard time keeping it away from my cats as well!

Good luck with your puppy and keep us posted on her appetite!

Thanks darnell. Believe it or not I tried dog gravy but not all kinds. I did see that their was one in a bag...maybe that will work. She refused the can gravy, and boullion cube beef and chicken and even my own gravy from a roast. Most dogs would have eaten my dang arm off to have what I've tried.

Thanks for your reply. Yes she has been to the vet for all her checkups. I tried chicken and turkey but I will try the processor and putting it on her food. My biggest concern was her blood sugar since she is definately less active at times. Thanks again.

I am assuming you've taken her to the vet for a check up to make sure she doesn't have a physical problem going on. Is she peeing and pooing? She must be eating something or she'd be dead by now. Is someone giving her human food? Have you tried putting a little gravy over her food or maybe add a little baked or broiled chicken. I use a food processer to grind it up into tiny pieces. I sprinkle a little on their food and add a little warm water to it. If she's really tiny you might give her some Nutrical gel everyday to keep her blood sugar up. Hope something works.
