Hi! Often shaving a pet actually takes away what helps them keep cool, strange as though it sounds. If she likes water, you might consider a kiddie pool that she can step in to cool off. I live in Arizona, and my dogs love their kiddie pool. We also built a cabana for them so they'd have lots of shade and somewhere cool to lay.
OK thanks guys I appreciate your coments :D maybe ill ger her a dog house for when shes ouside
We live in AZ where the summer heat is extreme. I thought if I had my dog nova shaved she would be cooler. If anything I think she was hotter. I will never do it again. And I think she was embarrassed with her new look too. She didnt want to go out. I think the hair protects them.
She's a beautiful dog and I think she would look weird if you cut off that gorgeous coat. A dog's coat is to keep them warm and cool in the summer. Cutting her coat won't necessarily keep her cool but could allow the sun to burn her skin. In the summer just be sure she has a shady place (or in the AC house) plenty of water and brush her regularly to get rid of the extra hair.
I think Vixen would look good shaved.
Or if she got a couple of inches cut off.
She's beautiful!

Their coat is to protect them from the elements. The previous comments about the pool and your idea for the house are great. If you want to actually do any h/c, my past experiences have shown me the 'tunneling' or shaving the belly is an effective way to help keep a dog cooler without removing the overall protection. Also keeping the coat brushed out & clean is a very important factor, getting the excessive dead hair off will allow the skin to breath and keep Vixen cooler. Just some ideas/suggestions...
