My Maltipoo has Gerd and is being treated with over the counter acid reducer per Dr's order. He still will throw up sometimes. I was told to feed him 6 small meals a day and once at night before he goes to bed. But he is a very finicky eater and he won't eat that much. Do dogs get esphogus problems like human's? The Dr wants to put him on Reglan but there is a bad side effect called tardive disconisia. I don't know if dogs would have this side effect or not but I won't give him this med. So what do I do?

my vet said that alot of puppies need to be up by the windows and to get my dogs booster seats to raise them up. you might want to try that. some breeds never outgrow the car sickness so the booster seats might help alot!!

Heh, this is just car sickness! Most dogs will throw up during their first car ride. It may take them a couple times to get used to the motion, so I suggest taking very short rides until you feel that this puppy has gotten used to the feeling. I hope I helped! If this continues through the next two months, he might need to see a vet.

Whew!!!! I'm glad it's just car sickness you're talking about :-)
I've had puppies do that too. I just took them for very short rides in the beginning. Maybe just around the block. Slowly increase the distance. Alot of times they throw up because of fear. Sometimes it's the motion of the car. One of my dogs would even loose their bowels from fear. It just took time and patience. I have also found some dogs feel more secure if you put them in a crate in the car. Be sure you don't feed them before a car ride. I wish you well.

You need to take your puppy to the vet ASAP and find out why it is throwing up. You can only treat the problem once you know what is causing it. Puppies can get dehydrated quickly so please get to the vet :-)

I found her digging in a trash can, so she LOVES to eat everything. She's a talker. Likes to chase her sister around the house.
