My dog, Remington, who is just 3 years old, has started acting very strange. Yesterday, he started to act skiddish about being on the carpeting. He would rather climb over the counter from the kitchen to the living room sofa than step on the carpet. He is continuously staring down at his feet as if there was something there. Nothing has happened to warrant this behavior. He did not eat anything yesterday either. He is healthy, beautiful coat, gets excited to go outside. He is just lying on the bed, awake, at the moment.
Anyone ever encounter this behavior?
Thanks!
i have a 4yr old long hair chihuahua named Jack. we got him about a year ago from the flea market and he has been a great compamion for my husband who has recently retired. we both love this dog. he was an outside dog when we got him and we brought him inside. he loves being held by my husband and my husband loves holding him. here is the but, sometimes for no reason he will growl at us like he wants to bites us. we don't do anything that would bring on this kind of behavior so we are at a loss as what to do. we have been told to hit him when he does this but we love him and can't hit him. we would just like to know what we do that would cause this. when he gets mad, he will turn away from us and go to a corner and lay down for quite a while. but for a day or two we walk on eggshells trying not to make him mad. can anyone give us some advice on what to do when our baby acts this way.
My chihuahua haves done that before some times its they found somthing in the carpet that do not like or they are afraid of it Now that I dont know but the not eating part could be the food but one day my dog mini was in my back yard and ants crawled on her leg after that she would not go back out side.
SO i picked her up and put her in the grass after geting the ants out of the yard she sat there for a minute with me and then I let her go she knew she was just fine in the yard If i go in there maby you should try that best of luck
Could he possibly have been bitten or stepped on something on the carpet that hurt him? It sounds like he's scared of something on the carpet that has to do with his feet. Maybe an ant or other insect. Check his feet out really well and if he isn't eating you might want to take him to the vet. Good luck and let us know.

In order to remedy or diagnose this you need to give more information. Has anything different happened? Any bad experiences? Allergies? Training? New family members? Stressors? What has changed, think long and hard and let me know.
