I'll admit it, I've always been a dog/horse person. I currently own my first indoor cats (one short haired, the other medium)& even after years of having outdoor cats & working for a vet there are still a few things I just have no clue about. For instance, do they always shed like there's no tomorrow? Is there anything I can do to minimize/control this? They don't have issues with hairballs or anything, but I swear every time I pet them I see a cloud of hair go flying.

Yes INDOOR cats always shed. It has to do with the climate control of the indoors(a/c and heat). Pet a outdoor cat and you will see the difference. There really isn't anything you can do besides keeping their hair brushed constantly. You could also take them to get a buzz cut. That takes away from the prettiness of the cats though. Good luck.
