There has been a lot of change in my life and my cat, Oscar, has had to deal with it. He is siamese so he is a bit high-strung already. I've had to travel for my job and now have moved back home to my mom, who has a pomeranian. So, not only does Oscar not have his own space, the dog chases and barks at Oscar daily. In response, Oscar sometimes does not use his litter box and pees and poops on my mother's rugs and floor. Now, he is starting to do it on the potty paper my mom puts out for the dog. He has ruined most of her rugs and the house reeks of cat pee!! What can I do?? I know he is upset, but I don't know what to do to make him feel better.

It sounds like the cat needs a retreat from the dog. My daughter got a gate and lifted it so the cat can get under it so the cat can have time away from the dog. The cat's food is on the other side of the gate. It is just high enough so the cat can get under and not high enough that the dog can get under it. Find a place where the cat can find some peace from the dog and you won't find so much litter around. The move and your travels have upset the cat. They are sensitive animals. When you are gone, make sure that the cat feels that there is a safe place for him. Bamcat
