What we can learn from an awful cat-abuse case
October 30, 2009
A serial cat abuser and killer is on the loose in the Phoenix area. Recent headlines announce that the sheriff’s office is investigating several recent “cat mutilations.” I won’t go into the gory details. At least 14 kitties have been victimized. Sadly, two did not survive. This story saddens, angers and frightens me all in one. Oddly, however, there is …Read more »
Are My Dogs Normal?
October 30, 2009
If anyone out there has dealt with any of these issues, please let me know: 1. Bruno systematically chews the bark off our trees. I don't know if it tastes good, he's bored, or simply loves chewing (probably all three). He hasn't had any reaction yet, so do I assume it's safe? 2. And The Winner Is....
October 27, 2009
Wow, what a turnout! Tuesday night was the most successful Howl-o-ween event we've ever had at the Alliance PetSmart! I almost fell out laughing at the creativity of the costumes! Some of those pets had to be earning some serious "cookie points" going out in public looking as funny as they did.
Let Me hear Your body Talk
October 27, 2009
You always hear about people’s body language. Avoiding eye contact, crossed arms, playing with your hair, facial expressions. We use it and analyze constantly when we communicate with one another. How come it is so often overlooked when we communicate with our dogs or when we watch two dogs interact?
Welcome to the Island of Misfit Pets
October 27, 2009
For a long time now, we’ve referred to our home as The Island of Misfit Pets. It’s a take-off from the 1960-something Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer movie and its Island of Misfit Toys, a place for not-so-perfect playthings. Instead of a “Charlie-in-the-box” or goofy elephant with spots, our Island is the lifelong, loving home for cats and dogs who have …Read more »
Solving My Digger Dilemma
October 26, 2009
Can you dig it? My dogs sure can! Recently I’ve been coming home to big huge holes in the garden and lawn—and the usual suspects are covered in dirt. It’s not easy to keep them from digging up the backyard because I can never catch them in the act. After reading the article Save Your Yard from a Digger I …Read more »
