Tell me your thoughts

November 13, 2009 -

I was looking at Molly last night and thinking about how cuddly she is. I usually read every night before going to bed, and have gotten into the habit of inviting her up on the bed. She eagerly jumps and crashes right smack next to me with her head tucked under my chin. If I nap, she’ll tuck herself tight against my side and stay put. Molly has always been especially Mommy-focused. She follows me around the house and hovers near, as though she’s staying within earshot just in case I need her.

And, actually, there are times I need her when I’m home alone or kind of down. And she’s right there, eager to please and cuddle. She still likes to climb in my lap, even thought she doesn’t fit. It makes me smile to think of it now because it truly seems to confuse her that she keeps falling off. I can see her thinking ‘I used to fit, why don’t I now?

She’s my go-to gal when I want to snuggle. And she’ll really let me snuggle, too. I can heap hugs, kisses pats and coo at her all day long. She eats it up.

Rosso is much less affectionate. He’ll accept the occasional pat and kiss, but he’s usually content with that. However, that’s not to say he doesn’t sometimes need a hug.
It’s funny how good they are at communicating what they want. Rosso, typically content on his own, will suddenly be demanding for attention by sitting by you, pushing against you and deep staring. (He also seems to be able to tell me he wants water in much the same manner and I can discern the difference.) Molly is much less mental-telepathic and more blantant. She just takes what she wants.

“You’re going to pet me because I’m going to sit on you.”

“You’re going to play because I put the ball into your hand.”

You get the picture. Do your pets have weird communication habits? I’d love to hear them.
