Molly has a secret compartment
September 4, 2009 -
Invariably, Rosso and Molly will find some random thing on the floor, coffee table—or directly forage in the garbage—and I’ll catch them, happily munching on some foreign object they should not have.
Rosso is a good boy, he’s the older of the two and I can usually just tell him to drop it and he will. If he doesn’t (as in the case of a prized captured Kleenex), I can open his mouth and take it. No biggie.
Molly usually won’t drop it. But she’s really good at letting me open her mouth. The problem is, every time she’s had something and I’ve opened her mouth, I can’t find the darn thing. I’ve opened her cute little mouth, prodded her throat, around her tongue and teeth only to come up empty.
So I let go. And the little bugger goes right back to chewing on her treasure.
So I’ll open her mouth again. Nothing.
I’ve sometimes done this two, three times, only to find her back to happily chomping away again. If I persevere, I’ll eventually catch her before she can hide it. But to this day I have no idea where she hides them.
Does anyone else have a trickster pet? Tell me I'm not the only one!

That is so funny. My Chelsea does the same thing. It scares the living daylights out of me cause my baby is so young and only has two rounds of shots, but when we get home, she is just as happy and excited as any other time so I am learning not to be so overprotective of her. Chelsea hasn't picked up the stop chewing part, but I know she is getting there.

They are! She now has picked up that we'll take it from her and are getting more adept at finding it. So now if she realizes she's caught our attention, she'll stop chewing until we look away. Sneaky girl!
