Evil Leash

October 27, 2009 -

Pet:

My little Chihuahua puppy Jack has had a hard day today.
First, Ben, my Border Collie, accidentally stepped on Jack. Jack is fine, but his leg hurt.

So, I thought we'd go for a walk to see how Jack's leg would hold up. He'd stopped limping on it and it's nice out today.
Jack has one of those retractable leashes. So the handle of it is boxy and red and plastic.

I hooked Jack up and we started walking down the road. Jack is skittish, especially after being stepped on by the big dog so when someone started up a saw the sound scared little Jack and he turned to run home.

Well, I didn't have a good grip on the handle of the leash and it came out of my hand.

Jack starts running back to the house, but then he looks over his shoulder and what does he see?!! A big, red, noisy thing is now following him!!! He thought the red handle of his leash was giving chase and he began to cry out (quite loudly for a little dog) as he now ran as hard as he could to get away from the big, bad, red thingy chasing him.

Well, Jack was so scared by the leach handle chasing him that he began to poop. Yeah, not a great visual, but he left a line of little Jack poops all the way to the front door.

Poor Jack, it didn't end there. The storm door is glass and he didn't realize it was closed so he bashed right into, jarring him back, scaring him more and making one final, bigger, poop come out on my porch in front of the door.

By the time I got to him he was trying to hide behind the fence post in front of the porch. He kept looking at the red fiend as though it might chase his again, but it just lay there in the grass behind him.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but I just couldn't help it. Jack was so certain that the leash handle was chasing him it made him poop!

I picked him up, removed the leash and took him inside where he was hugged, loved, put in my lap and given a Greenie. Jack is now on his own bed napping after his heroic incident.

I found her digging in a trash can, so she LOVES to eat everything. She's a talker. Likes to chase her sister around the house.
