The plant thing I may be able to help with - Max likes to dig because he's a terrier and I tried everything to get him to stop. On top of the usual scolding I used the sour apple spray, hot sauce, cayenne pepper and countless other things. But finally I bought a small plastic container, filled it with sand and buried some of his toys in it. As soon as he figured out that when he dug around in there he got a toy instead of me yelling at him he left my flowers alone. It also helps if the sandbox isn't close to your flowers (reduces the temptation) and that you use something that has a lid so it doesn't get all gross when it rains.

My darling german shepherd pup loves to chew but she hasn't been quite that destructive. The very worst thing she has done is pull my plants out of the pots and scattered them everywhere. Thank goodness she didn't eat them. She just destroyed some of my prettiest plants. My vet told me that normally they will stop chewing around 2 years old. I sure hope he's right.

If you find out when it stops please let me know. I have a Jack Russell mix that has “separation issues”. It's gotten to the point where I only buy toys that have replacement guarantee on them - the brand is called Orbee and I love them. I bought Max a giant sized Nylabone that someone at the store told me they gave to their Rottweiler... he destroyed it in under 2hrs. Keep in mind he's 15lbs. Dog beds? Forget it. I bought these pads called Primo pads for his crate that are supposed to be practically indestructible and guaranteed to be replaced if they are ruined - 1st time I left him alone with it he chewed off the corner. And a side note, the pad wasn't replaced. The company never answered my emails requesting a replacement. He's chewed thru cans to get to the dog food inside, electrical cords, don't even think of giving him a stuffed animal, tennis balls, the black Kongs that are supposed to be really tough, Nylabones and practically every other dog toy known to man no matter how indestructible it's supposed to be, several blankets, 2 pairs of shoes, 4 rugs, I lost count of the dog beds and he even left me a dental impression on my laundry room wall. It’s insane.

If anyone knows of any other dog toys that have a replacement guarantee on them other than the Orbees please let me know. Or if you're looking for a product tester to see if your toy really is indestructible...

This is hilarious! For Molly, it's pretty mundane in comparison, though the carnage has been extensive. Hers is exclusively limited to every stuff animal she's ever had. :-)
