Going to Camp Niko
July 24, 2009 -
One of the hardest things to do as a puppy mama is go on vacation and leaving your baby behind. I can't even begin to imagine what it would feel like to leave a human baby with a sitter - I can barely handle the dog thing. I'm lucky to have such great pet-loving people in my life so Copley doesn't have to stay at a kennel.
Tonight, Copley is off to Camp Niko. Niko is the cutest little liver and white Boston Terrier. I'm convinced that she is Copley's best friends. They play really well together. I sure she'll have a great time.
Like human children, I make sure to pack all of Copley's favorite things:
1) A 2 page checklist with emergency contacts (vet, my parents, etc), feeding guidelines, potty guidelines, and directions on anything else that could possibly occur
2) Her Crate with Her Bed - just in case she needs a break
3) Her other Bed
4) Water and Food Dishes
5) Collar and Leash, with a tag and my phone number of course
6) Her toys - one tug toy, one ball, one squeeky thing - I plan on these being destroyed so I didn't exactly pick her favorite, favorites but they'll do
7) Special Marrow Bone treat and Kong bone- only because I feel guilty
8) Copley approved food and treats - with rules on her special Gluten Free diet
Am I forgetting anything? Hope not.
I'll miss her. But, it is only seven days. I'm sure we'll both survive. Besides, Copley will literally be at summer camp with her best friend, a pool, a big yard with bugs to hunt and Niko's annoying older brother Bentley. What more could a girl want?

I'd feel bad for Cops with her momma gone, but Camp Niko! She's having a vaca, too! :-)

Maybe we'll get the noodles and paper plates out and make some camp crafts!
