Does your dog ever do this?
September 9, 2009 -
Both of my dogs’ have an obsession with turning anything paper into confetti. They aren’t satisfied with a single tear; they must create a million tiny pieces and spread them all over the house for me to pick up. I’ll find evidence of the destruction for weeks hidden underneath the pillows of their beds, in between couch cushions and even outside in the yard. With this in mind, I can only blame myself for the events that occurred this last weekend.
On Sunday morning I decided to give my bedroom a thorough cleaning. I vacuumed the floors, made the bed, dusted and put all my stuff in its proper place. I was really proud of how tidy things looked afterwards. I left a single, stamped letter containing a money order for my rent payment on the bedside table to take to the mailbox on Monday morning.
I think you know where this is going…
In the evening I went upstairs to get ready for bed and the letter with my money order had been torn to smithereens! It was destroyed beyond recognition and I was horrified. I always knew my pups had expensive taste—but this was just out of control. Like putting a puzzle together, I was able to piece some of the money order back together. It’s certainly not cashable—in fact it’s hardly readable. Today I have to explain to the cashier my very expensive mistake, “My dog ate my money order.”
Do you think she will understand and print me out a new money order? Has your dog ever committed the crime of eating something extremely important? Share your stories--and condolences!
