A little story for ya...starring Honey Pie The Corgi
October 21, 2009 -
Pet:
Honey Pie ate a whole brick of cheese on Sunday. A big brick. One of those bricks you get at Costco. Pounds of it. And it was my fault. I had been eating cheese & crackers on the couch, cutting small slices of cheesy goodness as I went along munching it but became distracted, left the couch and left the cheese within eyeline of one hungry Corgi: Miss Honey Pie.
Naturally, by the time I saw the empty wrapper of cheese, Honey Pie was already getting sick every place in the house that is covered with carpet (as opposed to tile).
My fiance, Jim took her to the vet immediately, while I went on to ruin a pre-planned lunch I had scheduled with some family visiting from Scotland. I arrived at lunch a little bewildered, a lot worried and totally out of it. I received some gifts, which perked me up even without opening them. I ate, laughed and ran home to see how my stuffed-with-cheese Corgi was doing.
I threw my gifts on the bed and cuddled Honey Pie, who by then had been hydrated and relieved of much of the cheese she ingested. Thank goodness for vets who are open on Sundays I tell ya.
Jim suggested, after a ton of cuddles (nothing like rewarding BAD behavior, but I couldn't resist), we go about our day. And we did, running errands, only a bit of worry about Honey Pie lingering in the back of our minds.
When we got home, there was Honey Pie. Greeting us at the door as usual. Except this time, instead of a plush toy baby being in her mouth, she was carrying a package of shortbread. Shortbread she had painstakingly taken from the gift bags my uncle had FLOWN OVER FROM Scotland. There they lay--all eaten, all eaten on the bed, the bed covered in crumbs.
There we went again.

I'm glad to hear that Honey Pie is alright. She sounds like my cat Gi-Gi, she eats just about anything....her favorite is anything with plastic.
